Catalan President Captured

Former Catalan President Charles Puigdemont has been on the run since October. When Puigdemont visited Finland to promote the cause for Catalonian Independence, Spain reactivated the international arrest warrant for the ex-president. Puigdemont is wanted on charges of sedition, rebellion, and misuse of public funds, all as a result of his involvement in the Catalonian Independence referendum. If charged, he could face up to 30 years in prison. The arrest warrant arrived in Spanish, and the Finnish government didn’t manage to translate it in time. However, Puigdemont was finally detained by highway patrol officers as he crossed the border from Denmark into Germany, and the court will decide on Monday whether Puigdemont will be sent back to Spain or not.
