Slovakian Prime Minister Resignation

Robert Fico was the seventh Prime Minister of Slovakia, coming into office in 2012. On 15 March 2018, he submitted his resignation in wake of a murder investigation of an investigative journalist and his fiancee as well as allegations of links between politicians and Italy’s ‘Ndrangheta mafia. Peter Pellegrini has been appointed as a replacement for Fico. Protesters have called for a “clean sweep” of the government and new elections.
