Boko Haram, the ISIS affiliated terrorist organisation based in Nigeria, is responsible for kidnapping young children since 2010. On February 19, 113 students, majority girls, were abducted from their boarding school dormitories in the town of Dapchi. Last week 107 students were finally released, except a 15 year old Leah Sharibu who refused to convert from her Christianity to Islam. The released students reported that five of their schoolmates died during captivity because of stress related heart attacks. The girls also reported that the terrorists strictly warned them not to pursue their educations any further. The Nigerian Information Minister told the media that the girls were released following negotiations with the abductors and no ransom was paid.
