Peru's Presidential Resignation


Peru’s President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski has resigned over vote-buying scandal. Pressure had been growing after footage of his allies offering opposition politicians financial rewards if they backed him in the upcoming impeachment vote was leaked. Though he has denied wrongdoing, he has nonetheless resigned to avoid hindering the country’s development. Lawmakers and party leaders in Congress will meet Thursday to discuss the issue of whether to accept his resignation and are expected to put it to vote Thursday or Friday.
